Arboretum and Audubon

Today (May 18), I had the chance to be a part of the first year of a new birding event: Arboretum & Audubon: A Day of Birding Walks and Workshops. It was a one day bird festival with many different walks, speakers, live bird demonstrations, and classes. Kellie and I led two different bird walks in the afternoon. We were impressed with how well-run the event was - everything was well organized, and the organizers adapted well to the threat of an all-day downpour. Luckily, the rain held off for the day, and were able to do the walks without needing lots of raingear! Our participants seemed to really enjoy both seeing birds and learning about how to create habitat and attract birds to their backyards. It helped a lot that there were many beautiful warblers around, including these three stunners:
